Atlas Insurances Ltd was established in 1972 as a private company. The company today is one of the leading local insurers in the field of marine insurance, accounting for some 15% of the Israeli market.

Atlas has been writing for Lloyds Underwriters, London since 1977 through Aon Group Limited and for local insurance companies, enjoying a very wide underwriting authority.

Atlas marine insurance activities encompass the following sectors:

Atlas also provides marine insurance consulting services and has, over the years, managed the marine departments of a number of small local insurance companies, providing such professional services as underwriting, claims settlement and reinsurance cover. Atlas is also very proud of its new interactive cargo insurance system, accessible over the internet to all its customers and brokers worldwide. This advanced system, launched on July 1, 2001, provides an innovative alternative to the traditional time-consuming and paper-intensive method of transacting cargo insurance.

Company Management
 Atlas was founded and is owned and managed by Adv. Kadouri Hakham-Aharon and his sons Ohad and Ronen.

Prior to establishing Atlas, Mr Kadouri Hakham-Aharon practiced law and served for twelve years as manager of Veritas Marine Insurance Company Ltd. He is a former deputy chairman of the Marine Insurance Committee of the Israel Insurance Association and was a member of The Insurance Council, a governmental advisory body on insurance matters for the Ministry of Finance. Mr Hakham-Aharon has lectured on marine insurance before the Israeli Insurance Institute and other bodies for some 25 years. He authored the book "Marine Insurance and Claims" (Hebrew), now in its sixth edition, as well as a considerable number of articles on marine insurance published in local and British journals.

Ohad Hakham-Aharon joined the company in 1980, specializing in claims adjustment. He heads the company's Claims and Recovery Department. Ohad lectures on marine insurance before numerous organizations, including the Institute College, banks, the Association of Institute Agents and Brokers in Israel and the Israel Export Institute. For the latter he has written an Exporters' Marine Insurance Manual, now in its second edition. Ohad has a L.L.B. and is a member of the Israeli Bar.

Ronen Hakham-Aharon joined the company in 1982, specializing in cargo and yacht insurance. He heads the company's Underwriting Department and is in charge of marketing.  Ronen holds a B.A. in Political Science and is a graduate of the Israeli Insurance Institute - Marine Branch.
